OMG SCHOOL!

School has begun, if you didn’t guess from my title. My knitting has completely been put by the wayside and this makes me uber sads. I am however, enjoying my classes so far. It’s just been crazy because there are new people to train at the information desk so I’ve been working over time and taking on way too many extra shifts. Yesterday was hopefully my last day of doing that so I’m looking forward to catching up on homework over this weekend and maybe finding some time to knit.

I still haven’t finished Nora’s blanket, so I can’t use any of my birthday yarn. This has greatly saddened me as well, since its putting me on a yarn diet. That’s ok, though, I’m still working on saving up for the day when my parents cut me off which is fast approaching. See? This is how stressed I am right now, I can’t even focus my blog post on one subject. Argh.

I am also stressed because I am taking a class that I know is going to be incredibly hard this semester. It’s called the Henry Ford High School Project and it focuses on sending University of Michigan students into Detroit city schools to facilitate creative arts workshops once a week. I’m going to Cooley High School to do a creative writing workshop. I’m mostly nervous because I am afraid that I’m not good enough at either helping students or writing, to do anything that they will find worthwhile. I hope that I am, though. The professor has been doing this for years and is incredibly helpful and competent so I know that I have a good support system. He is the director of the Prison Creative Arts Project as well, which does similar things in prisons in Michigan. I also have my mom to look to for help because she’s a principal and my sister has taught science in Atlanta Public Schools, so these are all good resources for me. I still know that its going to be a hard experience. I hope it goes well. I think I might have my first session next week on Friday, so wish me luck!

For now, I’m just trying to calm things down a bit. Maybe I’ll try to knit tonight since I don’t have class tomorrow.

  1. Wow, sounds like you’ve had an overwhelming start to your last year. Hey, are you walking in commencement in December? I realized that I may need to put that on my calendar to I don’t plan something else for that day. Let me know. In the meantime, good luck next Friday, and I hope that you find some time to knit.
